Description

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) Teacher provides targeted, small-group instruction to students who are performing below grade level in reading and/or mathematics. Using a pull-out model, the EIP teacher delivers explicit, skill-based intervention aligned to grade-level standards while addressing foundational gaps. The goal of the EIP program is to accelerate student learning and close achievement gaps so that students can successfully access core instruction in the general education classroom. The EIP Teacher actively participates in MTSS processes by using student data to plan, deliver, and adjust targeted interventions, while collaborating with school leadership to ensure effective and responsive support systems.

Reports to: Principal 

School-based support: Assistant Principals

Network support: MTSS Manager

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction & Intervention

  • Provide supplemental, small-group instruction in reading and mathematics for students identified for EIP services

  • Implement evidence-based instructional strategies, including explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, scaffolding, and corrective feedback

  • Align intervention instruction with grade-level standards while addressing prerequisite skill gaps.

  • Provide intensive Tier 3 interventions for students demonstrating limited progress in Tier 2 supports

  • Implement district and school instructional initiatives and intervention frameworks

  • Participate in the MTSS process, including data review, problem-solving meetings, and intervention planning

  • Implement intervention plans with fidelity and monitor student response to interventions 

  • Maintain documentation of student intervention services and progress monitoring using both observational and formal assessment methods

  • Develops, writes, and maintains student intervention plans, and collaborates regularly with grade-level teams to review progress and adjust supports 

MTSS Participation

  • Participate in EIP, Tier 2 and 3 data review and referral meetings to identify student needs, present student data and/or plan interventions

  • Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and adjust interventions as needed

  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers, specialists, and administrators to refine instructional strategies and support student growth

Professional Practice

  • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations

  • Engage in professional learning aligned to intervention and instructional best practices

  • Develop meaningful relationships with students and families, keeping them informed of progress and strategies for support

  • Collaborate openly with co-teachers, specialists, assistants, and operational staff

  • Attend faculty meetings, coaching sessions, workshops, and conferences to maintain and improve professional competence

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited institution

  • Have the ability to pass an Atlanta Public Schools background check and obtain a GaPSC-issued clearance certificate

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate in appropriate content area and grade level

  • Valid GaPSC-issued clearance certificate

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience providing academic intervention in reading and/or mathematics

  • Experience implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within an MTSS framework

  • Experience using student data to inform instructional decision-making

  • Experience working with diverse student populations

    • Georgia Professional Standards Commission GaPSC certification level

  • Work Days: 202 days (190 working days with paid holidays)
