    SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Minimum master's degree in school psychology
    2. Certification by the National Association of School Psychologists
    3. Active Tennessee school psychologist license
    4. Meets health and physical requirements

    JOB GOAL To ensure a sound educational program for students who require at least a partially different program from regular classroom programs and to facilitate assessment of those students

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    1. Conducts assessments and observations as part of the evaluation process for special education students
    2. Provides technical assistance and support for IEP-Teams, ensuring that placement is in the least restrictive environment
    3. Serves as consultant to staff, ensuring that best practices in special education and preschool education are pursued in all school system initiatives
    4. Guides RTI practices and policies
    5. Performs other duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
    1. Stooping

    2. Verbal: Ability to understand meanings of words and ideas associated with them
    3. Numerical: Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately
    4. Form Perception: To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures
    5. Color Discrimination: Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color
