We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time, Medical Receptionist 1 at Gastroenterology of Ocean County in Forked River, NJ. However, all of our team travel to all offices, Forked River, Toms River and Brick.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
- Manage patient appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments or fees as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff or departments.
- Coordinate patient flow by notifying medical staff of patient arrivals and managing waiting room logistics.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry to support clinical and office operations.
- Handle patient check-out procedures, including scheduling follow-up appointments and providing necessary documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
- Experience with specific EHR software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
