Position Overview

 

Are you an experienced billing professional with a passion for accuracy and compassion-driven care? Join our team as a Hospice Billing Specialist, where you will ensure timely and compliant billing across multiple Ohio-based hospice agencies. This position plays a vital role in supporting our mission of delivering comfort and dignity to patients and families across the state.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit electronic claims for Medicare, Ohio Medicaid, and Managed Care payers specific to hospice care.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely reimbursements in accordance with CMS and Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) regulations.
  • Work knowledgeably with Notice of Election (NOE), Notice of Termination/Revocation (NOTR), and other hospice-specific billing processes.
  • Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), remittance advice (RA), and hospice billing edits (HIS/NOE rejections).
  •  Manage aging reports, bad debt accounts, and hospice cap tracking.
  • Communicate with insurers, clearinghouses, and hospice team members to resolve discrepancies.
  • Stay current with changes in Ohio Medicaid Managed Care plans and hospice CMS billing regulations

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of hospice billing experience in Ohio is required.
  • Familiarity with Ohio Medicaid, MyCare Ohio plans, and CMS hospice billing rules.
  • Experience using hospice EMR systems (Suncoast) is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-up and communication skills.
  • Proficient in working with billing software, clearinghouses, and payer portals.
  • Team player with a commitment to accurate, ethical billing practices in end-of-life care.
