Bonney Lake High School is seeking an experienced gymnastics coach to fill the head coaching role. Candidates should have a sound understanding of and experience in the sport of gymnastics, have a desire to promote Education-Based athletics, be able to create and maintain meaningful relationships with students/adults, possess excellent communication skills/strategies, and have a team-centered approach to coaching.
Salary placement is dependent upon education and experience.
In the event the season is not held, there will be no pay for this position. Position to be filled based on student participation numbers designated by the district. Stipends are prorated for an authorized start date 5 days after the season has begun. Stipend will be prorated for late start clearance.

Head Athletics Coach
Compensation & Representation:
The Head Athletics Coach is represented by the Extra Curricular Bargaining Group and paid according to the
Extra Curricular Coaches Salary Schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed

Before the Season
● Assumes responsibilities for proper registration of all athletes
● Arranges for the payment of necessary fees
● Augments the accident reporting and insurance procedures as outlined in the Coaches Handbook
● Provides accurate information needed to compile eligibility lists and other reports
● Explains to their team all regulations of the District and WIAA concerning the Athletic Code and eligibility
● Clarifies to athletes the letter award and policy
● Arranges for a systematic issuance of school equipment
During the Season
● Provides information for transportation, officials and game management
● Assumes responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used
● Assumes supervisory control over athletes and teams assigned to them
● Follows the procedure for initiating purchase orders
● Organizes and schedules practice sessions on a regular basis with the idea of developing the athlete’s
greatest potential
● Applies discipline in a firm and positive manner
● Emphasizes safety precautions and is aware of, and implements the best training and injury procedures
● Conducts themselves and their teams in an ethical and appropriate manner during practice and contests.
● Reports a summary of all contests and provides any publicity information that would aid the program and
athletes
● Instructs their players concerning rules and rule changes, new knowledge and innovative ideas and
techniques
● Sees that building regulations are understood and enforced
● Develops a line of communication with athletes’ parents, i.e., clinic, social hour, parent nights
● Participates in staff and department meetings
● Works collaboratively within the professional learning community of the school and district
● Reports to work with regular and reliable attendance and punctuality
● Upholds board policy, district and building policies and goals

End of the Season
● Arranges for the systematic return of all school equipment and hold the athlete responsible for all
equipment not returned
● Arranges for cleaning, storing and inventorying all equipment
● Makes recommendations concerning equipment needed to be purchased or repaired
● Makes recommendations concerning improvements in the care and maintenance of their facility
● Arranges for issuing letters and special awards earned
● Submits recommendations for next year’s schedule
● Maintains records of teams and individual accomplishments
Minimum Qualifications:
● Minimum age requirement in compliance with WIAA regulations
● Membership of a professional organization such as the Washington State Coaches Association
● Understanding and knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding the sport as presented in the WIAA
Handbook
Additional Requirements:
● Maintains all Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and Sumner-Bonney Lake School
District Coaching standard requirements
● Maintains CPR/First Aid certification
● Keeps abreast of new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques by attending clinics and reading
about the sport, and encourages their assistant coaches to do the same
● Keeps abreast of rules and rule changes of the sport

Working Conditions:
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Reports issues regarding the safety and cleanliness of the worksite and requests necessary repairs due to
vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
Occasional exposure to weather. Moderate physical demand, occasionally required to lift and carry objects
weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds and push/pull with up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force. Must be able to
walk up to 500 feet at a time and climb stairs as needed.
The District operates on a fiscal year from September 1st through August 31st. Those employees who do not
work the full year are paid over a 12-month period. This means that during the school year the monthly pay
warrants will be approximately 1/12 of the school year earnings, which allows the employee to receive a pay
warrant during the summer months.
