About the Department
The Department of Biology at the University of Louisiana Monroe invites applications for a faculty position in Biology. We seek an energetic, student-centered educator with a Ph.D. in a relevant biological science discipline who is passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The department seeks a faculty member to teach classes for a growing instructional need in organismal biology. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching foundational and upper-level courses that explore the relationships between biological form and physiological processes. Research experiences for both plant and animal model organisms will be considered, with preference for plant biology.
Position Duties
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses during the fall and spring semester. • Advise students and maintain records of student progress. • Actively participate in recruitment and retention for the Biology degree program. • Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment. • Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be passionate about teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have a earned a PhD in Biology or related disciplined. Qualifications include: • Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds • Coursework and/or experience in biology or related field • A research agenda or demonstration of scholarly activity • Effective oral and written communication skills.
