Job Description:The Process Maintenance Fitter is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on process plant equipment to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency. This role supports the maintenance team by executing planned and unplanned work in compliance with company standards and statutory requirements.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out mechanical fitting tasks on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, and other process equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
Work Scoping & Planning
- Assist in scoping maintenance work by inspecting equipment, identifying required parts, and estimating labour and time requirements.
- Provide input to planners and supervisors to ensure accurate job plans and resource allocation.
- Communicate potential risks or constraints during work preparation to improve scheduling efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and implement safe work practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Assist with root cause analysis and reliability improvement projects.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Report equipment performance and maintenance trends.
Essential
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
- Experience in process plant maintenance.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Desirable
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance principles.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
Core Competencies:
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces and heights.
- Physically fit to handle manual tasks and operate tools and equipment.
