    ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
     
     
    POSITION:                Assistant Nurse, Class III
                                      Districtwide
                                      9:00 am to 1:00 pm
     
    REPORTS TO:           Building Principal and School Nurse
     
    JOB FUNCTION:       To assist the school nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school heath service and to aid when required.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    1. Registered Nurse or LPN
    2. Ability to work with children
    3. Demonstrate aptitude for the tasks involved / Proficiency on the District administered test
    4. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Products and other office equipment or software
     
     
    REQUIREMENTS:
     
    1. Demonstrate the ability to work in a diverse environment and flexibility to handle changing priorities.
    2. Ability to prioritize identified needs of students by following directives of classroom teachers, staff and peers, as well as the goals of the IEP.
    3. Participates in training as required for performance of job. This may include but is not limited to ABA and Safety Care.
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
    1. Assist with health assessment of the individual pupil with referral, exclusion, and readmission as necessary.
    2. Provide coverage to district-wide schools based on need.
    3. Follow District and State policies.
    4. Conference with community health professionals, parents and school personnel concerning the health needs of students in the absence of the certified school nurse.
    5. Support individuals with personal health or hygiene concerns.
    6. Assist with all mandated services.
    7. According to school policy, administer medication in the absence of the certified School Nurse.
    8. Monitor and report suspected/actual child abuse.
    9. Aid with referral needs and follow up.
    10. Confer with parents and staff as necessary.
    11. Refer to community agencies as necessary.
    12. Participate in Child Study meetings when appropriate.
    13. Assist with in-service education for students and personnel.
    14. Maintain a safe environment.
    15. Work with the certified School Nurse with all clerical duties.
     
     
    1. Dispense medications and first aid to students including oral meds, injections or any invasive procedure (i.e., catherizations, epipens, cleaning wounds, etc.) in the absence of the certified School Nurse.
    2. Performs other duties attributed to the position as directed by the Building Principal.
    3. May be required to accumulate a minimum of 20 professional development hours each school year.
    4. Performs other duties as directed by the Building Principal or School Nurse.
     
     
    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT195/193 days; Hourly wage per contract 
     
    EVALUATION:          Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of  the School District’s evaluation system of support service personnel.
