Job Description

OpTek Systems is a global supplier of laser processing tools and sub-contract laser machining services.

Role Purpose: This is a strategic and operational leadership role responsible for the development and execution of the company’s global sales strategy.  Biomedical is considered a key market. It will deliver a substantial pipeline of new market opportunities, effectively qualifying, quantifying, and prioritizing them to drive sustainable revenue growth. It requires structured oversight of all team activities, continuous improvement of business processes, and close collaboration with leadership teams to ensure alignment with Humanetics broader commercial objectives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 
 Strategy & Leadership
•    Develop and own the global sales and business development strategy, ensuring alignment with OpTek’s overarching goals.
•    Actively contributes to the broader business strategy as a key member of the senior leadership team.
•    Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to align strategic initiatives and optimize the use of shared resources.
•    Serve as the primary external representative of OpTek in the marketplace and across group-level meetings.
•    Establish and drive a culture of sales excellence across the organization.
Sales & Business Development Execution
•    Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities across existing and emerging markets, targeting a pipeline at least 5x the annual revenue plan.
•    Manage the full sales cycle—from lead generation and qualification to order placement—tailored to the specific business stream.
•    Partner with the Director of Engineering and the Director of System Solutions to ensure delivery of highly qualified leads and support successful deal closure.
•    Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key customers, channel partners, and other external stakeholders.
Team Leadership
•    Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing sales and business development team.
•    Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development to enhance individual and team performance.
•    Define and monitor sales targets and performance KPIs, ensuring timely reporting of results.
•    Collaborate with senior leadership to design and implement effective sales incentive programs.
•    Leverage the team to gather and share market intelligence, competitor analysis, and customer insights with relevant internal stakeholders.
Reporting & Governance
•    Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, forecasts, and performance updates to local and group-level leadership.
•    Ensure all sales activities comply with corporate policies, legal and ethical standards, and health & safety regulations.
•    Uphold adherence to established business processes and internal service level agreements (SLAs).
•    Support the development of the annual and five-year strategic plans, including the setting of individual and team sales quotas.

 

Education and/or Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in a related technical discipline such as Physics, Material Science, or Engineering from a four-year college or university
•    5 – 7 years successful business development experience in biomed
•    Knowledge of fiber optic, micro-machining, or laser industries preferred. Experience in component manufacturing sales preferred
•    Ability to set, communicate and meet appropriate sales and growth goals for OpTek
