ELEMENTARY INTERMEDIATE INSTRUCTOR
Job Summary
The elementary teacher will create a flexible intermediate grade program and classroom environment favorable to
learning and personal growth. This person will teach to the EALR’s, establish effective rapport with students, motivate
students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation for future learning in
accordance with each student’s abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The

 Provide clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching
strategies to assure successful learning
 Closely monitor student progress by using quality classroom-based assessments
 Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and
administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
 Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized, small
and large group instruction; adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students
 Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
 Teach to the Essential Academic Learning requirements
 Communicate enthusiasm for learning
 Communicate regularly and positively with parents or guardians
 Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an optimal learning
environment
 Evaluate students’ academic and social growth; keep appropriate records and
prepare progress reports
 Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals; develop strategies for
individual education plans
 Be available to students and parents for educational related purposes outside the
instructional day
 Plan and coordinate the work of employees, parents, and volunteers in the
classroom and on field trips
 Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays,
interest centers, and exhibits of student work
 Promote and practice professional growth and development
 Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
 Develop positive relationships with students, parents, other staff members and
administration as well as community members
 Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification Requirements
 Bachelor’s Degree
 Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with K-8 endorsement
 Valid Washington State driver’s license
 Strong classroom management skills
 Strong background in reading and/or special education desired
 Knowledge of and experience with six trait writing
