Full-Time | Lynchburg, VA| Shop & Field | Tool Allowance Provided


Superior Paving is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team and help keep our fleet of trucks and heavy equipment running safely and efficiently. This role offers steady, year-round work, a strong safety culture, and the chance to work with a wide variety of equipment both in the shop and out in the field.

Requirements

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, and transmissions

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on trucks, heavy equipment, and support vehicles

  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues and determine necessary repairs

  • Repair, replace, or fabricate parts as needed; weld and use cutting torches when required

  • Install and test non-OEM equipment and electrical components

  • Keep your work area and/or assigned mechanic truck clean, organized, and secure

  • Document all repairs, parts, and maintenance in the CMMS system

  • Order parts and supplies as needed

  • Support field crews with on-site repairs and emergency service calls

  • Work safely around active job sites, heavy equipment, and plant operations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring:

  • 2+ years of experience repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, and transmissions

  • Ability to read and follow repair manuals and schematics

  • Welding and cutting torch experience

  • Must provide your own tools (tool allowance provided)

  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; CDL preferred

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends when needed

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 75 lbs

  • Work in environments with noise, dust, heat, cold, and vibration

  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and uneven surfaces
