Veterinary Technician/Assistant
Seasonal Schedule: Up to 28 hours/week; days and hours vary

What You'll Do
You'll play a key role in the shelter's medical teams supporting exams, surgery, and treatment while helping ensure animals receive safe, timely, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with exams, surgery, anesthesia, and post-procedure monitoring
- Administer medications, vaccines, and calculate accurate dosages
- Triage incoming animals and assess medical needs and behavior
- Perform lab work, radiographs, and basic diagnostic procedures
- Maintain sterile environments, disinfect equipment, and document care in shelter systems
What You Bring – Education & Experience
- Associate degree in veterinary technology or related field OR
- One year of hands-on experience in animal care, vet clinics, or similar setting
- Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of varying temperaments
- Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Preferred Certifications
- Fear Free Shelter Certification (required within 30 days of hire)
- Rabies and tetanus vaccinations (required within 1 year)
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of anesthesia, intubation, and patient monitoring
- Experience with lab equipment and diagnostic procedures
- Understanding of animal behavior, medical terminology, and treatment protocols
- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage controlled substances
