To support our growing HR operations, we are now looking for a Senior HR Payroll and Administration Expert to join our team in Sofia.
This is a key operational role for an experienced payroll and HR administration professional who enjoys combining precision, compliance, and customer focus in a dynamic, international environment.
In this role, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while providing comprehensive HR administrative support across the full employee lifecycle. Your role is critical in managing payroll inputs, handling complex cases related to local legislation, social security, maternity, benefits, and other statutory requirements, and ensuring full legal compliance — with a strong focus on Bulgaria.
You will act as a trusted point of contact for employees, managers, external payroll providers, and HR stakeholders across Europe, contributing to efficient, compliant, and high‑quality HR service delivery.
A JOB THAT MATTERS: Your Tasks
- Manage payroll operations, including monthly pre‑payroll preparation, validation of payroll‑relevant data (working time, absences, statutory leave), coordination with the external payroll provider, and review of payroll outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide HR administration support across the full employee lifecycle (hire‑to‑exit), including employee data maintenance, contracts, amendments, terminations, and payroll‑related documentation.
- Act as a primary point of contact for employees and stakeholders on payroll and HR administration topics, resolving inquiries, managing escalations, and ensuring timely, clear communication.
- Ensure process quality, compliance, and governance by monitoring payroll and HR processes, supporting internal and external audits, and contributing to process harmonization in line with local legal requirements.
- Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, Centres of Expertise, business leaders, HR Technology teams (e.g. SuccessFactors), and external providers to support system changes, integrations, and process improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline, automate, or digitize payroll and HR administrative processes, and contributing to lean and cross functional optimization projects.
EXPERIENCE THAT MATTERS: Your Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in end‑to‑end payroll and HR administration.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, employment law, taxes, and social security regulations, with hands‑on experience preparing and submitting statutory declarations (e.g. Declarations 1 & 6).
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g. SuccessFactors) and case‑management tools; strong Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a solid understanding of HR administrative processes and the ability to handle complex payroll cases independently.
- High attention to detail and data quality, combined with effective communication and stakeholder management skills in a multicultural, matrix environment.
- Business‑level English proficiency.
- Experience working with the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and National Social Security Institute (NSSI) is an advantage.
