Position Reports To: Regional Manager, Central Estimating
Position Summary
Estimators are responsible for all aspects of bidding a project including labor, time and materials requirements to determine overall cost of projects. This role is responsible for increasing profitability through comprehensive cost estimating.
Essential Functions
Interprets and analyzes contract documents regarding terms, specifications, clarifications, and requirements for each project and prepare estimates and bid proposals. Estimates majority of the work applicable to the respective region or business line, including, target projects and owners list, and managing bid flow. Reads and interprets sophisticated specs and drawings. Uses formulas and makes calculations. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of industrial services experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience reading isometric drawings
- 3+ years of experience estimating industrial services lines of business
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional team initiatives
- Knowledge in safety procedure implementation is a plus
- Ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects and competing priorities
- Effective communication and critical thinking skills
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
- Critical in managing the business and identifying problems or opportunities
- Demonstrates ability to be flexible and quickly adaptable to changing conditions across all spectrums
- Creative and innovative approaches and solutions on a project-by-project basis
- Effective participation in team environment, with both external and internal teammates
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Light work that includes moving objects up to twenty pounds
- No adverse environmental conditions expected
