 About this Position: 

The PE Procurement Unit Lead provides direct procurement support to AHM North Carolina Manufacturing Division by supervising and leading a procurement team to establish New Model cost/sourcing, to manage Mass Production cost/sourcing, and to execute business strategies with other AHM Powersports functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Distribute work as required to ensure timely completion of duties and deliverables. Lead the team to balance priorities, negotiate with suppliers, analyze cost quotations/fluctuations, judge supplier competitiveness, and realize business plan objectives.
  • Evaluate maker layout proposals to ensure readiness for final approval. Lead creation and implementation of sourcing and cost reduction strategies by defining actionable steps to the team and bridging gaps with other areas of the business to drive support and execution. Escalate issues and report progress to Management as needed.
  • Ensure the team is collaborating frequently to create an environment of strong communication and strive to develop smooth workflows. Promote strong internal and external relationships among suppliers and across SEDB.
  • Reinforce best practices within the team. Identify and pursue opportunities to positively impact business characteristics. Apply and optimize changes through PDCA.
  • Manage associate performance and career development through annual review process with input from Department Lead. Utilize hiring processes to identify & select candidates for sustaining target headcount level. Manage onboarding and training needs of associates.
  • Contribute to quarterly budget reports for piece costs, investments, raw material adjustments, supplier pricing requests, and any other appreciable cost factors. Support AHM monthly CPU cost roll-up accuracy by verifying validity of cost variances.
  • Assist Department Lead in discussions related to resource planning, equipment needs, associate matters, and project responsibilities.
  • Substitute for the Department Lead occasionally with management responsibilities related to procurement, travel approvals, timekeeping, and/or facility access to prevent disruptions of business operations.

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

  • 15+ years relevant experience is necessary, preferably in Powersports or Automotive field.
  • 5+ Years supervisory/project leadership in a similar organization
  • Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework (3-6 year planning horizon).

Required Education:

  • BS Industrial, mechanical, process engineering or equivalent job experience

Desired skills:

  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Familiarity with Ariba, SAP or major ERP system(s), with catalog administration knowledge.
  • Ability to operate with high level of confidentiality
  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • General knowledge of cost, budget and/or financial information management, gap analyses
  • Strong analytical skills (logical thought process, reasonability, timeliness)
  • Time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills (logical thought process, reasonability, timeliness)
  • Effective negotiation skills and the ability to summarize key issues for management review
  • Knowledge of Powersports market desired
  • Competent in understanding product development schedules

Additional Position Factors:

  • Travel: Average of 1-3 times quarterly. Amount varies based on project demands/responsibilities, conferences, etc.; includes possible overseas travel.Physical:
  • Primarily works at a desk or scope; frequent keyboarding. Limited kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching or bending.Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting.
  • May be exposed to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals and moving parts.
  • Overtime: Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities.
