We are currently looking for a Mechanical Specialist/ Sr. Mechanical Specialist for our Purvis, MS location.

 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

The successful candidate's primary responsibility will include the day-to-day operations and maintenance tasks associated with the various compressor station facilities for Boardwalk's Black Creek and Forrest Compressor Station facilities located near Purvis and Petal, Mississippi. The incumbent will be responsible for regulatory compliance including environmental, health and safety, operations, maintenance, and repair of station equipment including, but not limited to reciprocating and turbine natural gas compressors, fluid separation equipment, valves, etc. The chosen candidate will be expected to follow procedures associated with DOT regulations, industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and BWP guidelines as they relate to equipment and appurtenances. This includes but is not limited to operating the equipment and the lead role in the repair and maintenance of reciprocating natural gas fired Caterpillar engines, Ariel Compressors, Solar Natural gas fired turbine engines and centrifugal compressors associated station auxiliary equipment. Additional responsibilities include completing OMS database compliance and maintenance inspections as assigned, performing routine maintenance activities such as filter changes, cleaning and inspecting coolers, periodic checks associated with various components throughout the facility and with engines/compressor  (e.g. valves, shut-down devices, rod/bearing clearances, packing, piston clearances, lube oil samples, web deflections, cooling fan inspections, emergency shut• down systems, fire/gas detection, etc.), assisting with calibration of temperature and pressure transmitters and other electrical maintenance, monitoring flows and operating  conditions of all units at the assigned facilities. The successful candidate will follow all BWP safety rules, environmental and OSHA regulations, document all maintenance activities and operational data. The successful candidate will also assist at other Boardwalk facilities such as Petal Gas Storage needed to assist with mechanical repairs, operation of the facility, etc. Qualified candidates will be responsible for emergency response and must live within 30 miles of the Black Creek or Forrest Compressor Station in order to respond to call outs.      

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • One or more years' experience  in  operation  and maintenance of Waukesha  and Caterpillar natural  gas fired  engines.
  • On the job  training  or work  experience  in  the natural  gas industry  or equivalent petrochemical/oil  industry.
  • Must be self-motivated  and  have a strong commitment to personal  and team  safety
  • Excellent  verbal  and written  communication skills.
  • Excellent  troubleshooting  and  problem  solving skills.
  • Ability to work  in  extreme  weather conditions including  hot,  cold,  muddy,  rocky and wet environments  and ability lo stand  for long periods  of lime,  and climb  stairs and ladders, etc.
  • Ability lo utilize a PC and manage a filing system.
  • Ability to work independently with  minimal supervision  and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum  of 50 feet.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record with  no restrictions.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Three (plus) years of gas pipeline operations and mechanical  repair experience  of Caterpillar engine/Ariel compressor  units, Waukesha engines/Dresser Rand compressors  and Solar turbines.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

 

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

 

  • Associate Degree in related field
