Job Description

Registered Nurse - Same Day Surgery/ Injection Infusion Clinic – PACU



Shift: Full-time 6am-1400 M-F Days with PACU call rotation and occasional late days



Department: Same Day Surgery /PACU



PROVIDE PREOPERATIVE AND POSTOPERATIVE CARE FOR THE SURGICAL/ENDOSCOPY PATIENT IN AN EFFICIENT AND SAFE MANNER CONSISTENT WITH STANDARDS OF CARE. ADMINISTER INJECTIONS AND INFUSIONS PER MD ORDER. SCHEDULING INJECTIONS AND INFUSIONS. ADMISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT OF BLOOD AND BLOOD PRODUCTS, PROFICIENT IN ACCESSING MEDIPORTS. PERFORMANCE CONSISTENT WITH THE MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES OF MARSHALL COUNTY HOSPITAL.



Required Licenses and Certifications:




  • Registered with Kentucky Board of Nursing

  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certification maintained.



 



Minimum Education:




  • Graduate of an accredited RN program



Experience:



Requires up to one year of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience is desirable.





DUTIES:



Completes admission interviews and establishes nursing priorities with patient’s plan of care. Receives, transcribes, and executes physician orders and communicates to others, as needed, for continuity of care. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including instruction to the patient, family, and others, as identified. Administers prescribed medications and treatments and patient specific cares to patient in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care. Cross training to PACU and call pickup in PACU is expected with this position. Other duties may be assigned.



Excellent IV skills helpful. Perform outpatient infusions to include blood transfusion, antibiotics, iron infusions and some specialty drugs. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.
