Purpose of Position:


Bridges@Work is an employer-based Economic Mobility program which provides assistance to employees coping with challenges in their lives that impact their work environment. This program is expanding and this new role will be offered on-site at partner businesses throughout Northeast Ohio and Cuyahoga County.

As part of United Way of Greater Cleveland’s Community Impact team, the Bridges@Work Resource Coordinator supports employees at workplace sites by providing resource navigation, referrals, financial coaching, and stability services. The Resource Coordinator delivers direct support, tracks outcomes, and ensures wraparound connections using a trauma-informed and equity-centered approach.

The Bridges at Work Resource Coordinator supports employees of participating Cuyahoga County employers by providing confidential case management to identify barriers to workplace success and resolutions, which could include one-on-one financial counseling, benefits access and resource navigation. This position combines the functions of a financial empowerment counselor and a social worker/resource navigator, ensuring that employees have access to both immediate crisis assistance and long-term stability strategies.

This newly created role is an integral part of the program expansion from its existing territory in Geauga County into Cuyahoga County.

This position requires frequent local travel (70-80%) throughout Cuyahoga County but will be required to report to the UWGC main office when not on-site at employer locations. Hours may vary to include early morning and/or evening hours and occasional weekend events. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Essential Job Functions/Key Accountabilities:
  • Direct Employee Support
    • Provide one-on-one, confidential financial coaching, case management, and resource navigation.
    • Assist clients with budgeting, credit improvement, debt reduction, and connecting to public benefits and community resources. Manage referral process for emergency loan program facilitation with third party vendor (HFLA).
    • Deliver trauma-informed, culturally competent support addressing both financial and personal barriers to employment.
    • Maintain accurate case documentation using UWGC’s data management and reporting systems (i.e. Power BI and CRM).
  • Employer Partnership Coordination
    • Serve as the onsite point of contact for participating employers. Solicit feedback from employees using surveys and data collection methods.
    • Coordinate referral processes, promote program utilization and assist Program Manager with identifying workplace trends affecting employee stability through regular communication with onsite stakeholders
    • Coordinate lunch-and-learn financial wellness workshops, resource fairs, and group education sessions ; partnering with financial institutions and/or facilitators as needed.
  • Community Resource Integration
    • Leverage UWGC’s 211 and partner networks (e.g., BankOn Cleveland, Legal Aid, housing and workforce partners) for warm referrals.
    • Support United Way Economic Mobility initiatives to create a holistic continuum of support, including local financial empowerment resources to identify new partnership opportunities and/or resources.
  • Data & Outcomes Management
    • Complete intake forms to capture baseline data and needs assessment for participants. 
    • Conduct employer and employee surveys to track 
    • Track and report progress using standardized outcome measures (debt reduction, credit score improvement, benefits enrollment, retention).
    • Collaborate with the Economic Mobility Program Manager, Community Impact Director and other internal staff to evaluate outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, financial counseling or another related field. 
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in social services, case management, or financial empowerment.
  • Certification in financial counseling or willingness to complete the National Financial Educators Council Certification within 90 days. If currently certified as a financial coach, must provide proof of certification and/or maintain active certification. 

 

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a high-performing team.
  • Organized, able to prioritize, strategically plan, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including low- to moderate-income individuals (ALICE households) and employer-based programs preferred.
  • Flexible schedule to include some evening, early morning and/or weekend hours.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Technical proficiency including frequent use of computers, laptops, data management and software systems.

  • Candidates must possess valid driver’s license and provide their own reliable vehicle, proof of insurance and maintain a clean driving record.
