About the Department



To preside over a division of the Municipal Court including hearing cases involving City ordinances and rendering decisions regarding such cases.                 


The City of Springfield's Municipal Court is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Variable Hour Substitute Municipal Court Judge.  The Substitute Judge shall serve as Municipal Court Judge while the regular Municipal Court Judge is on vacation or attending various types of educational programs; serve when the regular Municipal Court Judge is absent due to illness; serve when the regular Municipal Court Judge is disqualified from hearing a case; if requested to do so, and serve as nighttime judge during such sessions, Monday through Friday.

Position Duties

Experience, Education, and Training

  • Graduation from an accredited law school;
AND
  •  At least five years of general law experience. 
Licensing/Certification
  • Must be licensed to practice law by the State of Missouri and comply with applicable requirements for annual continuing legal education as an attorney and a judge.
