Job Description

Job Summary

Supervises and performs a variety of work connected with the operations, inspections, and maintenance of Combined Cycle Generation sites. Performs varied mechanical, basic electrical and basic instrument and control maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain steam & electric generation facilities.

What you will do
  • Supervises and performs Combined Cycle operations, inspections, and maintenance in a safe and efficient manner adhering to all company guidelines to ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs and leads job safety briefings, in addition to safety reviews, orientations, and observations.
  • Maintains proficiency in operation of Combined Cycle Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Leads Contractor safety orientations and job safety briefings with contractors performing work.
  • Plans, coordinates and interfaces with contractors, and tracks all planned or un-planned outages and documents repairs to Combined Cycle equipment.
  • Maintains an accurate operating log of equipment and ensures preventive maintenance to sustain equipment availability and reliability is performed.
  • Ensures that all planned and unplanned outages and derates are coordinated with the appropriate stakeholder(s).
  • Plans and coordinates operation and maintenance activities with other employees at generating sites to ensure adequate resources to operate and maintain the equipment and facility.
  • Initiates, maintains, develops, and documents maintenance of equipment utilizing Maximo and predictive and preventive maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Ensures routine inspections of the Combined Cycle site and related equipment are performed, and collects and retains necessary data to support regulatory permit requirements and reporting.
  • Interfaces with Management and the Sourcing department to purchase materials and services to support plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Maintains performance monitoring and control equipment. Monitors gas and steam turbine performance to maximize financial and operating results. Documents test results as required to maintain an accurate history of performance, repairs and or improvements.
  • Follows warehouse procedures, orders supplies as needed, and supports inventory activities.
  • Ensures monitoring, calibration and minor repairs of recording and indicating instrumentation including emissions control & monitoring systems are performed.
  • Maintains and operates water treatment systems. Receives and supervises unloads of acid, caustic and other chemicals needed for the operation of the facility. Troubleshoots and ensures repairs to the water treatment system controls and valves. Maintains optimum water treatment systems performance and environmental water permits compliance.
  • Performs tests and reports data on water treatment systems.
  • Safely operates mobile equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.
  • Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.
  • Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Qualified to perform the duties of subordinate positions including Combined Cycle Operator I, II and laboratory positions.
  • Train other employees to qualify in this and subordinate positions.
  • Supports operation and maintenance activities at other generating facilities as needed. Travel, including overnight travel, might be required.

Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience
  • 2 years Power Generation maintenance and/or operations experience.
  • 3 years in any one or combination of the electrical, mechanical or instrument and control trades; or three years of Combined Cycle maintenance and/or operations experience.

Preferred Experience
  • Supervisory experience

Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Employees in this job classification are covered by the Residency Policy and will be required to live within 60 minutes of their headquarters.
