Description
The Sports Coordinator plays a vital, front-facing role in delivering impactful YMCA sports programming. This position is responsible for leading youth and adult sports leagues, managing program spaces, training staff and volunteers, and building strong relationships with participants and families. The Sports Coordinator ensures that all programs align with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, creating a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Sports Coordinator
- Lead the on-site delivery of youth and adult sports programs, ensuring high-quality and inclusive experiences for all participants.
- Manage sports programs and leagues, including creating rosters, organizing schedules, officiating basketball games, and coaching when needed.
- Plan and coordinate engaging sports activities for childcare summer programs, managing logistics, staffing, and curriculum implementation.
- Step into programs as needed to teach and lead activities, requiring familiarity with the curriculum for all sports programs.
- Cover all open shifts as needed to ensure uninterrupted delivery of programs.
- Travel to multiple program locations as required, ensuring consistency and program excellence across sites.
- Organize, maintain, and manage an inventory of sports equipment, ensuring all items are in good condition and ready for use.
- Oversee the setup, takedown, and storage of equipment for all programs and events.
- Monitor and track equipment needs, submitting orders for replacements or new items as necessary.
- Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate sports curriculum that promotes skill-building, teamwork, and fun.
- Assist the Youth & Family Program Specialist with planning and executing special events, providing leadership and logistical support as needed.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- At least 1 year of experience working with youth
- At least 6 months of supervisory experience
- Knowledge and experience in youth and/or adult sports programs; coaching, officiating, or curriculum development experience preferred
- CPR/FA for Adult, Child and Infant
