Job Description:

Facilities Associate

Location: Hudson Valley, NY ( Poughkeepsie, Middletown, Newburgh, Yorktown, & Fishkill)

Hours:5 8.5 hr shifts (Monday-Friday)

Organization: New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

Basic function:

Ensure the efficient operation of all NYCBS locations by managing and coordinating the activities of the facility. Ensure that all NYCBS locations are safe and secure for patients and staff. Responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of all NYCBS locations including, cleanliness, safety and security. The Facilities Associate will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the management of a designated segment of NYCBS/NYHealth locations, including interaction with outside contractors/facilities and supervisor concerning building construction, HVAC and any other related matters.

  • Obtain documents/quotes/bids for building maintenance/construction. Evaluate proposals for specification compliance and make recommendations to Facilities Director and SVP of Operations

  • Review/Manage and/or inspect work of outside vendors for quality, accuracy, and completeness.

  • Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.

  • Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.

  • Plan repair work using building blueprints or equipment manual as needed.

  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.

  • Perform routine maintenance on building systems.

  • Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities.

  • Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

  •  Communicate with on-site supervisors at designated locations for items that need to be addressed.

  • Ensure compliance of all NYCBS locations with applicable federal, OSHA and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.

  • Develop appropriate safety and/or service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc for occupants of all NYCBS locations.

  • Monitor maintenance tracking software for tickets/requests on assigned locations

  • Monitor and evaluate operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement.

  • Perform repairs in and outside of all assigned NYCBS locations.

  • Be flexible to work some weekends/nights.

  • Other duties as assigned.

We require:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Related experience preferred.

  • Multiple trade experience strongly encouraged.

  • Handyman experience preferred.

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.

  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
