Job Description
 
Community Healthcare Network is seeking for a Medical Record Specialist (MRS) who will be responsible for processing all release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service.

JOB FUNCTION:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviews the release of requested medical records and ensures that the process is HIPAA compliant and timely 
  • Maintains and protects sensitive and private information by keeping patient records confidential in accordance with ambulatory care, The Joint Commission, HIPAA, local, state, and federal laws and regulations 
  • Investigates possible violations of HIPAA policies and procedures and reports to Associate Director, Medical Records 
  • Receives and processes requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures 
  • Standardizes all records that are contained in the medical record in collaboration with medical and administrative staff 
  • Documents all medical records request by creating telephone encounters in CHN’s Electronic Medical Record system electronic medical records system, eClinicalWorks (“eCW”) and assigns to appropriate staff 
  • Responds to requests for patient records both internally and externally via phone, email, and fax. 
  • Maintains working knowledge of company and facility software 
  • Monitors third-party vendor software and processes.
  • Responsible for scanning and uploading records to eCW.
  • Engages in ongoing training, education, and professional activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and professionalism.
  • Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:
