Job Description
Fuel
Gas Service Technician
Description:
Will
be working with a pressurized/flammable gas, (mainly propylene)
Will use a vapor compressor from time to time to pump out a propylene tank to
make repairs to the tank
Will install 1,000 gallon plus size tanks for new customers and check the
system for leaks
Will inspect, wash, paint, apply new decals as needed for new and existing
customers
Will fill out work orders and inspection sheets when required
Will operate a crane on a service truck to load and off load tanks
Will rebuild and refurbish tanks as needed
Will install and service vaporizers
Will assist drivers as needed to pump out tanks
Will rebuild Propylene pumps
Will learn to unload a railcar into our storage tanks
Will do PMs from time to time at our storage facility
Keep up with expense receipts and submit expense reports timely
Will cross train to work with the cryogenic department for Matheson and work on
cryogenic systems
Will be required to travel 50-75% of time and stay out over the weekends

Qualifications:
How a pressure regulator works and
where/how it should be installed
How a flash arrestor works and where/how it should be installed
How a pressure relief valve works and the different pressure settings for them
Knowledge of an LPG pump and be able to rebuild it
How a bypass valve works and how to set it
Some electrical knowledge for checking the wiring connections on a small
electrical motor for the propylene pump
Some electrical knowledge for checking the wiring connections for a vaporizer
How an internal valve and ESV valve works and when/where to install them
How to install a pneumatic system, pneumatic/emergency shutdown system for
internal valves and ESV valves
The difference between schedule 40 and schedule 80 pipe and the different
working pressure of pipe fittings, 150 psi versus 2,000 psi fittings
Certifications
Will be required to study and become familiar with all associated SOPs and take
a test over the associated SOPs and pass the test
Will be required to take CETP training modules and pass the test for the
modules taken
Will be required to acquire State certifications as required
Will be required to take training refresher courses as needed
Will need a class A or B CDL with a hazmat endorsement
Will be required to obtain a passport
