Job Description

Position Title: Custodian 


 



  1. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:


Perform routine cleaning and help with the setup of school activities at the high school. 



  1. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:


Recruited by: Maintenance Supervisor


Starting Wage: $14.09 (Negotiable if prior experience)


Length of employment period: 12 months


Health Insurance: Single Blue Cross Blue Shield


Life Insurance: $10,000 Policy


Disability Policy: yes


Paid Vacation: One week paid vacation after the first year of employment, two weeks after the second year and three weeks after ten years.


Holidays: Nine paid Holidays


Sick Leave: Five sick days per year


            Work Day: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. unless otherwise notified


            Pay Day: Bi-Weekly (Thursdays)


III.       POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:


            Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

  1. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:


Required experience and training: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of related experience. Knowledge, skills and abilities required:                    


1. Knowledge of cleaning and willingness to learn. 2. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions. 3. Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks. 4. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. 5. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.


Desired experience and training: Some physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; light lifting, pushing or pulling of objects over 50 lbs.


       Special Requirements of the Position: The candidate must have a valid Nebraska driver’s license. The candidate must provide information that would assist in the development of a comprehensive criminal history check.



  1. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


            Scheduled cleaning of classrooms, hallways, and restrooms.


            Picks up and disposes of litter.


            Cleans floors and other common areas in the school. 


            Helps to set up activities.


            Picks up trash on a regular schedule, and disposes of it.


            Ensures the proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.


            Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
