Core Responsibilities & Duties
Cleaning & Sanitizing: Thoroughly clean rooms, including bathrooms, kitchens, and living areas; dust, vacuum, mop, and polish surfaces.
Laundry & Linens: Wash, iron, and fold clothes, linens, and towels.
Restocking: Replenish supplies like toiletries, toilet paper, and cleaning products.
Organization: Tidy up rooms, cabinets, and common areas to maintain an organized environment.
Waste Removal: Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste, often by separating recycling.
Maintenance Reporting: Notify management or homeowners of any needed repairs or damage.
Deep Cleaning: Perform deep cleaning tasks such as washing walls, windows, and shampooing carpets when needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift (often up to 25-50 lbs), bend, and move furniture.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to cleaning to ensure high standards of hygiene.
Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently to complete all tasks within a shift.
Communication: Good communication skills for interacting with guests or employers.
Knowledge of Products: Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, sanitizing techniques, and safety protocols (e.g., MSDS).
Common Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is often preferred but not always required.
Previous housekeeping experience (residential or hotel) is frequently preferred, but on-the-job training is often provided.
