Reports to:
The Workforce Development Specialist is responsible and accountable to VP of Personnel.
The accurate and efficient processing of training records; conducting programs and exercises to further workforce development; maintaining and scheduling the use of training facilities; the maintenance and facilitation of Performance Management processes and programs.
Job duties:
Enter all newly hired employees into the databases for training records and online training modules (in the absence of a Workforce Development Admin).
Create and issue rosters for employees as they pertain to orientation, initial training, onboarding, briefings, biometrics; et al.
Remove terminated / separated employees from the databases for training records and online training.
Run regular and periodic reports pertaining to incomplete training; present to managers as progress reports to stimulate accountability.
Enter the training record for all employees’ training sessions, conducted both internally and externally.
Maintain the database of employee training records, conducting regular audits to ensure that any personnel changes are recorded and the database is up to date.
Review the expirations of employees’ training and alert the proper parties.
Recognizing the Safety Director as the subject matter expert when referring to all safety related topics, work in support to schedule training classes and determine who is to be trained; utilize both the database and any other materials to produce schedule.
Maintain training facilities; keep its stores and provisions stocked; maintain and administer the scheduling calendars.
Work with Foreman In Training candidates, keeping a regular scheduled check on progress.
Identify, select, enroll and monitor employees who are candidates for any DOT mandated OJT programs.
Work with Engineer Development Program candidates, keeping a regular scheduled check on progress.
Have a working knowledge of the department’s computers and software.
Confer with the WFD director on progress or problems and request counseling advice and approval as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
A working understanding of construction and the challenges field employees face; credibility to interview, assess, coach and work with field employees, and to fairly and accurately evaluate leaders for accountability of programs’ progress / success.
Accuracy in checking, position and counting, use of calculators, typewriter, computer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone console and other typical office equipment.
Practical knowledge of learning systems, strategies and processes; the ability to communicate ideas and subjects effectively across different student learning capabilities; ability to draft learning plans and implement scheduling for effective instruction.
