    Primary Purpose
    Coffeyville USD 445 is looking for an energetic and qualified vocal music instructor for the middle school and high school, grades 6-12 program.
     
    Qualifications Profile

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
    • Valid Kansas professional license as required for the position.  District will work with candidates who have a similar valid professional license from another state.
    • TB Skin Test/Physical completed and on file
    • Ability to pass a background check
    • Valid driver's license or state issued ID

     
    Essential Job Functions

    • Develops and administers the music curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
    • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and group instruction, and student learning.
    • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area.
    • Teaches knowledge and skills in music areas
    • Designs activities for the students.
    • Performances as planned at the school and state/regional performances.
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.
    • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
    • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
    • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
    • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
    • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

     
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
    • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation about performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

     
    Physical Requirement/Mental Demands/Environmental Conditions

    • Requires the ability to maintain emotional control while under stress and in stressful situations.
    • Requires the ability to frequently stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Requires the ability to walk frequently.
    • Requires the ability to use standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment for prolonged periods of time.
    • Requires the ability to frequently use repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and mouse use.
    • Requires the ability to frequently kneel/squat, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, or reach.
    • Requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
    • Requires the ability to work and concentrate in noisy and crowded environments.
    • Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
    • Requires the ability to occasionally work outside with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
    • Requires timeliness and regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
    • Works in standard office and school building environments.

     
    Equipment
    Uses standard school equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
     
    Travel Requirements

    • Travels to other district buildings and communities/districts for professional meetings as required.
    • Requires travel to and from regional and state performances and competitions.
