Job Description

Job Summary: The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transporting of Schoolcraft Community Schools students.

Other duties involve managing the operation of the bus to ensure a safe and hazard free environment for all students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Required: High school diploma or equivalent, CPR/AED, first aid training and other training as required (will

be provided if needed).

2. Commercial Driver’s License appropriate for pupil transportation is necessary (will provide training if needed).

3. Must pass a criminal record check and drug and alcohol testing.

4. Excellent driving record.

5. Ability to meet Department of Transportation physical examination requirements.

6. Must have prior work experience with children.

7. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

8. Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance and the ability to do the job.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To meet the requirements and follow the rules and regulations as established by the Michigan Department

2. of Education and Schoolcraft Community Schools.

3. To obey all laws governing the operation of a vehicle and/or a school bus.

4. Drive a school bus according to a designated route and schedule. Participate in determining route and time

5. changes when necessary.

6. Operate a bus in various traffic, weather and road conditions with the safety of students as the priority.

7. Supervise students while driving, maintain a safe and orderly atmosphere on the bus.

8. Communicate with the building principal regarding student behavior or medical and safety issues.

9. Maintain the bus in a clean and orderly condition, sweep and empty trash.

10. Refuel the bus when necessary, as determined by the Schoolcraft Community Schools Administration.

11. Responsible for the bus, its’ equipment, its’ passengers and any aides assigned to his/her bus.

12. Must complete daily pre-trip inspection of the vehicle and must immediately report needed repairs.

13. Must follow the cell phone policy.

14. Certified in CPR/AED, first aid training and other training as required (will be provided if needed).

15. To be at assigned work site at stated starting times, ready to perform assigned duties.

16. To appropriately secure wheelchairs with safety equipment.

17. To keep all student, parent and staff information confidential.

18. To have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, community members and other staff

19. members.

20. To prepare and maintain route sheet

21. To prepare reports and keep all required records.

22. To prepare "Accident Report" after any accident involving the bus and/or school bus passengers.

23. Perform other duties as assigned by Administration.
