    About Our School:
    Amboy High School is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education teacher to join our high school team. This position serves a diverse population of students with IEPs and includes both co-taught and self-contained instructional settings.

     

    Position Overview:
    The Special Education Teacher will collaborate with general education teachers to deliver co-taught instruction in core content areas, while also providing targeted support in self-contained classes to meet the individual learning needs of students. The ideal candidate is student-centered, knowledgeable in special education practices, and skilled in differentiating instruction.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals in both co-taught and self-contained settings

    • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and support student success in inclusive classrooms

    • Manage and maintain IEP compliance, including case management, progress monitoring, and parent communication

    • Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse needs

    • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions

    • Maintain accurate documentation and data collection

    • Support students in transition planning and post-secondary readiness, as appropriate

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required

    • Experience working with high school students is preferred

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills

    • Knowledge of instructional strategies for diverse learners, including those with autism, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disorders

    • Familiarity with co-teaching models and inclusive practices
