Insurance Authorization Specialist – Skilled Nursing (SNF)
$20–$24 per hour | Full-Time
Are you experienced in insurance authorizations, managed care, or healthcare case coordination? We are seeking an Insurance Authorization Specialist to support our skilled nursing facilities by managing authorizations, communicating with insurance providers, and ensuring timely approvals that drive both patient care and reimbursement.
This role is critical to keeping patients covered, reducing denials, and supporting strong clinical and financial outcomes.
What You’ll Do
As an Insurance Authorization Specialist, you will serve as the central point of contact between our facilities and insurance providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage insurance authorizations, updates, and appeals for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans
- Review patient documentation and clinical updates to support approvals and continued stay reviews
- Track and follow up on admissions, re-admissions, and changes in condition
- Communicate with insurance case managers to ensure timely approvals and avoid denials
- Submit and manage NOMNCs, ABNs, and required payer documentation
- Obtain approvals for therapy services, equipment, and specialized care
- Monitor payer portals and maintain accurate records of all authorizations
- Collaborate with facility teams to resolve insurance issues and care concerns quickly
- Participate in daily and weekly workflow meetings to prioritize cases and remove barriers
What We’re Looking For
- Experience with insurance authorizations, case management, or utilization review (SNF or healthcare setting preferred)
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care processes
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple cases or facilities
- Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency
- Strong communication skills working with both clinical teams and insurance providers
