General Description of Position Duties: Support and encourage literacy development in students K-5 by cultivating an environment that encourages readers. Maintain inventory, ordering of technology and print rich resources. Maintain an organized space for flexibility in an open access library. Enrich students with experiences in reading, such as but not limited to: Read Alouds, Independent Reading, Literature circles and book studies, Book Fair, Reading Challenges, etc. Promote computer literacy through instruction including digital citizenship with Common Sense Media, CANVAS, Keyboarding without TEARS. Duties otherwise assigned by the administrative team.

CLASSIFIED POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Employment to begin as of: August 5, 2026
Position Title: Media Center Instructional Assistant
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree or Equivalent or pass the
Paraprofessional test. Teaching background and license preferred.
Previous Experience Required: Knowledge of school environment is helpful. The ability to
create and deliver engaging and pertinent lesson plans to support student learning in grades
K-5. Effective classroom management skills and the ability to work with educators and
administrators in a supportive role.

Special Skills, Training or Aptitudes Required or Desired
• Ability to manage student groups as large as 30
• Technology fluency for both computers as well as educational support technology
including but not limited to projectors, interactive whiteboards, CANVAS, DIGITAL
CITIZENSHIP, WORD and EXCEL, APPLE/MAC/IPAD Apps (Pages, Numbers), etc.
• Collaborate with teachers to determine potential grade level or school themes to
integrate into the library services and Computer Sciences
• Organizational skills
• Must enjoy working with students from Grade KDG-5
• Participate as a positive and active member of a team of professional colleagues
Physical and Mental Efforts:
• This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance
• Sitting in an office/classroom environment, performing tasks on a computer or other
technical devices.
• Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time
• Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish
tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another.
• Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues and/or students
accurately, loudly, or quickly
• Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication.
