Summary:
The Project Manager will lead and execute the full lifecycle of a multi-building facility move. This role will oversee the relocation of three commercial buildings, including Aerospace & Defense manufacturing operations, specialized equipment, and cross-functional departments.

The Project Manager will be responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, vendor selection, execution oversight, risk mitigation, and post-move stabilization. This individual must bring demonstrated experience managing complex commercial relocations involving industrial or manufacturing environments.

Main responsibilities:

Project Planning & Strategy

  • Develop comprehensive move strategies, phased implementation plans, and detailed project timelines.
  • In conjunction with engineering, create and manage end-to-end project plans covering logistics, equipment relocation, occupancy planning, and departmental transitions.
  • Conduct readiness assessments and risk analyses to ensure operational continuity.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, architectural drawings, and space plans.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets.
  • Lead vendor bidding processes, RFP development, and contractor selection.
  • Monitor financial performance, manage invoicing, and ensure cost controls.
  • Maintain vendor accountability for scope, schedule, and budget adherence.

Execution & Coordination

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including manufacturing, facilities, IT, HR, and leadership.
  • Manage external vendors including movers, rigging companies, contractors, furniture suppliers, and specialty service providers.
  • Oversee the safe relocation of manufacturing equipment and operational assets.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel as needed between sites to oversee project execution.

Stakeholder Leadership & Communication

  • Lead stakeholder alignment sessions and drive executive-level reporting.
  • Deliver clear, consistent, and proactive communication throughout all phases of the move.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal leadership and external partners.
  • Manage change management efforts to ensure smooth departmental transitions.

Post-Move Support

  • Oversee post-occupancy stabilization and issue resolution.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs, quality assessments, and close-out documentation.
  • Ensure operational readiness and successful handoff to internal teams.

 

Our ideal candidate:
Required

  • 5+ years of project management experience leading commercial building relocations.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (Engineering Options: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Civil, Structural and construction)
  • Demonstrated experience managing moves involving manufacturing equipment or industrial operations.
  • Strong budgeting, vendor management, and contract negotiation experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and space plans.
  • Proven experience coordinating multi-department projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Preferred

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • Experience in occupancy planning and commercial office layout.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to manufacturing equipment relocation.
  • Experience managing multi-site or phased facility transitions.
