Job Description

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a CAD Technician to join our Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo office. As part of the CAD Group, the CAD Technician assist in completing electrical design CAD drafting for M&N projects by working with the Project or Electrical Lead CAD Designer, Project Manager (any discipline) or the Electrical Discipline Lead. Works alone or with other project staff, or meet with design team, clients and/or other parties to investigate project conditions and requirements. Prepares CAD deliverables, including design drawings and sketches per the electrical design being completed by electrical engineers and designers on the same project.

  •  Provide CAD drafting of electrical design drawings including: 
    • One-Line diagrams
    • Electrical Equipment, Lighting, and Grounding Layouts
    • Electrical Room/Building layouts
    • Block diagrams and cable tray layouts
    • Panel and cable schedules
    • Control System Architecture and Communication Layouts
    • Schematic and Wiring Diagrams
    • PLC Cabinet Layouts
    • Preliminary Design Concept Sketches
    • Final Detail Design Electrical Drawings
    • 2D and 3D details and models
  • Set up drawings including borders, title blocks, revision blocks, and drawing contents in accordance with established M&N or project specific drafting standards. 
  • Timely execution of responsibilities including working to meet production deadlines and progress milestones
  • Interacting with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers to create, update, correct or enhance drawings during the design process
  • Follow established M&N drawing and document management procedures
  • Follow established M&N Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, accuracy and neatness of drawing deliverables

Qualifications:

  • Technologist or Drafting Diploma in Electrical Engineering Design fields 
  • 2 – 6 Years of related experience 
  • Mandatory proficiency in use of AutoCAD
  • Mandatory understanding of use of external references (Xrefs), layering, block creation and basic layout arrangement of drawings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Mandatory language fluency in English both written and oral; 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Revit is preferred
  • Knowledge of Agi32 or other lighting design software is preferred
  • Ability to manage sensitive and occasionally confidential information
  • Excellent attention to finer details
  • Ability to read and interpret design and construction drawings from other disciplines including civil, structural and mechanical 
  • Experience in waterfront container terminals, bulk material handling terminals and/or oil and gas terminals are preferred but not a requirement.
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently or in design team groups as needed per project basis
  • Fast learner with ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic domestic and international projects environment
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with others
  • Willingness lo learn and ability to receive direction from senior CAD drafters
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
