    POSITION(S):Ai Pioneer (Up to 30) 
    LOCATION(S):

    2-3 Teachers per subject area, regardless of school site:

    • Mathematics
    • English
    • Science
    • History & Social Sciences (HSS)
    • World Languages
    • Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA)
    • Physical Education (PE)
    • Career & Technical Education (CTE)
    • English Language Development (ELD)

    Each subject area must have at least two accepted teachers to form a collaborative group. 

    DURATION:July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027
    COMPENSATION:$55 per hour not, to exceed 30 hours per employee 
    DESCRIPTION:AI Pioneers will integrate AI into their teaching practice, collaborate with colleagues, and develop shareable lessons that support effective and responsible student use of AI (see attached).
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
    • Valid California Teaching Credential

    Job Description

    Background

    The AI Pioneer program seeks teachers who want to explore how artificial intelligence can enhance teaching and learning. Participants will receive a district Chromebook and exclusive access to AI tools to integrate AI into their lesson planning and instruction, while collaborating with colleagues to share ideas and best practices. Teachers of all skill levels are welcome as long as they are dedicated to learning about and implementing AI in their classroom. Participants will be strongly supported by the EdTech Team throughout the year.

    Responsibilities
    AI Pioneers will

    • Attend monthly AI workshops/trainings (including after school meetings and summer planning) to build AI literacy, participate in collaborative planning with peers, and share classroom experiences.
    • Test and integrate AI tools and strategies into instructional planning and classroom practice to support effective student learning and AI literacy
    • Develop one comprehensive AI-integrated lesson each semester to contribute to the district resource library and support colleagues teaching similar courses.
    • Share practical strategies, successes, and lessons learned to help build AI confidence and literacy among colleagues.

    Qualifications
    AI Pioneers should be teachers who are:

    • Current credentialed high school teachers who are teaching at least one class
    • Willing to welcome periodic observations, collaborate, share resources, and give and receive constructive feedback.
    • Open-minded and solution-oriented, with a willingness to explore new tools and troubleshoot challenges.
    • Committed to working with the EdTech Specialist to improve their AI implementation using a collaborative coaching cycle.
    • Committed to following through on projects and program expectations to completion, demonstrating persistence and accountability
