Job Purpose
The Genetic Counselor will partner with the Medical Geneticist in obtaining and returning genetic results to help patients and families understand and adapt to genetic contributions to create a robust plan of care. This role will provide services for patients receiving care in both our inpatient and outpatient settings.
Qualifications

Education: |
Masters in Genetic Counseling from an ACGC accredited program |
|
Experience: |
2 + year experience preferred |
|
License/Certification/Credential: |
Genetic Counselor Board Certified or Eligible with goal to get certified within 3 years |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support and assist in the interpretation of specific genetic results including negative, positive or VUS |

Coordinate payor and insurance information to genetic testing companies to ensure the appropriate flow of information to receive completion of billing process |

Conduct cascade testing for family members also at risk for specific genetic diagnosis |

|
Offers counsel to impact informed decisions on healthcare & family planning |

|
Provide counseling to patients and care givers regarding the limitations and benefits of genetic testing |

Perform family history tracing to detect patterns of inherited conditions |
