Job Description

Title: Interpreter


Position Type: Part-time Staff


Search Type: External - minimum 7 days


Department: 71R000 - Dean of Students


Division: 5R0000 - Student Success,Opportunity&Engage


Position Location: Richmond Campus


Driver Classification: Non-Driver


FLSA: Non-Exempt


Schedule Type:  Part Time, No Benefits (less than 20 hrs per week)


Hours Per Week: As needed


Retirement:   None

Job Summary/Basic Functions


An Interpreter facilitates communication between current students who are deaf/hard of hearing in all academic aspects of the university experience. Including but not limited to, classroom lectures, academic advising, field trips, and internships.






Minimum Qualifications


Education: Bachelor's Degree is required.


Experience: Two (2) years of directly related experience is required.
Equivalency: Education or native like ASL skills may substitute for experience


Level III

- National Interpreting Certification is required and must be a member in good standing

- Full Interpreting License is required and must be maintained

Level II

- Temporary Interpreting License is required and must be maintained.

- Must be actively working towards National Interpreting Certification
