Job Summary:

The department is hiring a desk monitor to work during the summer months. The worker will serve as a desk monitor to assist in the operations of the building, including light cleaning of weight room areas, ensuring the functionality and safety of facilities for all users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the operations of the HAARC ensuring the functionality and safety of facilities for all users
  • Greet visitors who come through the facilities by welcoming students, faculty, staff and all external users
  • Check in all users of the facilities using Colby.dserec.com
  • Enforce all rules and regulations of the HAARC
  • Ensure that screen displays are up and functioning
  • Monitor security cameras throughout the building including walking through the spaces every 30 minutes to ensure everything is orderly and in place
  • Print and maintain room schedule placards throughout the day via the master facility schedule through Colby.dserec.com
  • Problem solve and listen to complaints or situations as they arise and address accordingly within your scope
  • Ensure central sound system is functioning via the college Spotify account and appropriate music is being played at all times
  • Assist with cleaning equipment throughout the 3 Levels of the Boulos Family Fitness Center
  • Report any areas of concern or broken equipment to supervisor or associate athletic director for facilities and operations
  • Report an emergency situation to the Department of Public Safety and/or the associate athletic director for facilities and operations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current CPR and AED certification preferred; additional training security is required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Reliable, pleasant and outgoing demeanor
  • Work well collaboratively
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior
  • Attention to activity in the fitness center as well as throughout the HAARC
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and punctual
  • Work well alone

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

This position has significant interaction with students, staff, faculty, and others in the Colby community.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Outdoor environment in all kinds of weather. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Day, evening, and weekend work required.
