Job Description
Position Title: Montessori Aide

Position Category: Teacher

Position Status: 1. Full Time or Part-Time 2. Hourly 3. Benefit Eligible

Immediate Supervisor: Montessori Director

Department: Lower School



Position Summary: The Montessori Aide is a faithful practicing Catholic, responsible for all assigned aspects of the Montessori classroom. Instructional duties particularly include offering each student experiences with Montessori work appropriate to their needs and development, and ensuring the safety and care of the classroom environment.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

-Know, observe, and execute the Roles, Relationships, Responsibilities described on page 2 consistent with the described Rights, Resources, and Qualifications
-Review letter sounds/reading with each preschooler daily
-Monitor napping students while using time effectively (prepping works, tidying classroom, etc.)
-Provide extra help to emotionally struggling students
-Complete any and all tasks to ensure the classroom runs smoothly (including teaching, setup, cleaning, doing dishes, handling bathroom accidents, etc.)
-Model all classroom ground rules during school hours and while students are present
-Integrate Jesus Christ, the life of the Church and the organic unity of the Catholic faith into the curriculum
-Attend faculty and administrative meetings as directed
-Attend parent/teacher conferences and after-hour evening and weekend Academy functions as directed


Qualifications:

Required

-Practicing Catholic willing to sign an oath of fidelity to the Church
-Associate’s degree preferred
-Love of great children’s literature
-Strong organizational skills, with an ability to follow directions and take initiative
-Desire to run an orderly classroom, allowing students to work quietly and independently
-Exceptional written and oral communications skills and strong attention to detail
-Skilled in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite
-Strong leadership skills, the ability to work independently, and on a team


Preferred

-Experience with and knowledge of classical education
-Strong grasp of history
-Strong catechetical background
