Job Description

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Health Insurance Counselor to join our team! In this role, you’ll educate, assist, and enroll Health Center patients and community members in health insurance through Medicaid (MO HealthNet/CHIP or KanCare) or the Health Insurance Marketplace. You’ll work closely with the Health Insurance Services Program Manager to ensure our patients and community members have access to the healthcare coverage they need.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct "in-reach" with uninsured Health Center patients and "outreach" to non-patients in our service area to educate, assist, and enroll individuals in MO HealthNet/CHIP, KanCare, or the Health Insurance Marketplace.

  • Identify community programs and resources, and build partnerships to connect consumers with health insurance options and healthcare services.

  • Travel to various clinic locations and off-site events to achieve enrollment goals.

  • Help consumers improve their health literacy, understand their insurance benefits, and navigate the healthcare system.

  • Use and maintain access to MEDES and FAMIS systems to assist applicants with Medicaid applications and renewals.

  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate assistance to diverse communities, including individuals with disabilities.

  • Educate Health Center staff on insurance options so they can support patient enrollment.

  • Network with social service and community-based organizations to expand outreach efforts.

  • Participate in community events, health fairs, and meetings to promote health insurance options.

  • Submit weekly reports on outreach activities, enrollments, and community partnerships.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all applicant information in compliance with HIPAA.
