The Opportunity:

We’re looking to fill an opening for a Director, Infrastructure Operations to join our IT team.

Reporting to the VP, Technology Operations & Support, the Director, Infrastructure Operations is accountable for the end to end operational health, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency of all on premises and cloud environments. This role provides leadership across infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, system and application administration, database services, networking, and operational security execution.

This leader works in close partnership with peer leaders across Security, Desktop and Application Management, and Change and Incident Management. The Security function defines security strategy, standards, and governance, while this role is accountable for implementing, operating, and sustaining those controls within infrastructure and platform environments.

The Director is responsible for building and leading a department capable of supporting business as usual operations, deployments around the clock, and providing technical resources for project delivery, ensuring platforms remain stable, secure, scalable, and cost effective while enabling ongoing change.

What your day looks like:

  • Responsible for the day to day operations of all on premises and cloud infrastructure environments, including compute, storage, networking, databases, middleware, and core platforms
  • Provides leadership and direction to managers and senior technical leads responsible for infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, system administration, application administration, DBAs, networking, and operational security
  • Accountable for operational execution of security controls, ensuring platforms align with security standards, policies, and architectural direction defined by the Security team
  • Partners with Desktop and Application Management leaders to ensure infrastructure and platforms effectively support end user and application requirements
  • Partners with Change and Incident Management teams to ensure deployments are controlled, risks are understood, and incidents are resolved effectively
  • Designs, implements and oversees an operational support model that leverages a third party provider for off hours monitoring, ticket triage, and emergency support, while retaining accountability for escalation models, hand offs, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Ensures availability of technical resources for project delivery, balancing BAU operational demands with project commitments and timelines
  • Owns platform availability, performance, capacity, resilience, and recoverability, including high availability and disaster recovery capabilities
  • Oversees deployment, configuration, patching, lifecycle management, and decommissioning of infrastructure and platform services
  • Ensures effective monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational response, driving continuous improvement in reliability and operational maturity
  • Leads resource planning and workforce management, including skills development, succession planning, and capacity alignment to demand
  • Owns cloud and infrastructure cost management, including forecasting, optimization, vendor management, and financial accountability
  • Establishes and enforces operational standards, runbooks, automation, and best practices across infrastructure and platform services
  • Provides clear direction, prioritization, and accountability to managers and teams delivering operational and project outcomes
  • Acts as an escalation point for significant operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication to stakeholders
  • Supports audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities related to infrastructure, operational controls, and security execution; facilitates development of relevant IT operational policies, standards and procedures
