Purchasing Specialist
Help drive inventory accuracy and customer satisfaction at Wesco Turf.
The Purchasing Specialist plays a key role in supporting purchasing operations by managing inventory flow, vendor communication, and order accuracy across multiple product lines. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and is looking to grow within a stable, long-term organization.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Principal Buyer with Toro purchasing, including stock, direct shipments, and shop service orders
- Provide purchasing support for Allied vendors across 50+ product lines
- Place daily purchase orders and manage buyer queues
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and clear communication
- Monitor inventory levels, fill rates, and product availability
- Review product status and manage inventory requirements daily
- Reconcile daily receiving issues in coordination with Receiving, Accounting, and Customer Service
- Communicate backorders, ETAs, and order status changes; update systems accordingly
- Verify pricing and part number changes and communicate updates internally
- Maintain inventory supplies (boxes, labels, bags, etc.)
- Coordinate inventory movement between warehouses
- Assist with vendor claims, 1RGA processing, and defective parts tracking
- Review open purchase orders bi-weekly and assist with annual returns and obsolescence programs
- Support purchasing email queues, documentation updates, SOP maintenance, and special projects

Requirements
What Do You Need?
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Experience in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
- Previous experience in purchasing, inventory management, or warehouse operations
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Intermediate Excel proficiency (required)
- Experience with Prelude or similar inventory management systems (preferred)
