BAE Systems is seeking FPGA Design Managers!
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
BAE Systems is seeking an FPGA Design Manager to work within our Electronic Systems business sector leading and managing a team of highly experienced FPGA engineers delivering our next generation of high-performance products. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical aptitude with a working knowledge of Hardware and or FPGA/ASIC design flows, demonstrate strong team leadership skills, project management, and communication skills. Candidates should also have experience leading design engineers within multi-disciplined engineering teams through all phases of the Hardware and or FPGA/ASIC development lifecycle, have strong communication skills, mentor, and work with engineering cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities Will Include
- Lead and manage a team of FPGA engineers at all experience levels to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to ensure continuous improvement.
- Grow the FPGA team and knowledge through hiring and mentorship engagements.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment and successful project delivery through collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering projects with other business functions.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Influencing program execution and scope management
- Participate in new program bids by generating Basis of Estimate (BOE) and Rough of Magnitude (ROM) reports for the FPGA design and delivery.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to learn and grow professionally while delivering high-quality work.
- Drive operational excellence by implementing best practices, processes, and tools to optimize engineering workflows and increase efficiency for the FPGA discipline.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantage while supporting key initiatives to improve engineering execution.

Required Skills and Education
10+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record of managing high performance engineering teams.
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
Proficient in MS-Project, MS-Word, MS-Excel
Active Security Clearance (Secret or higher), or eligible to obtain one
Experience leading and managing Hardware, FPGA, or ASIC development teams with a proven track record of delivering complex electronics systems.
Proficient in planning, managing, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and risk mitigation of complex engineering developments
Ability to provide mentorship to less experienced team members
Strong written and oral communication skills
Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with changing needs, requirements, and technical challenges
Experienced in developing/designing electronic Hardware, FPGA/ASIC architectures, requirements capture, test and validation.
Familiarity with FPGA design tools flow for AMD-Xilinx Vivado and/or Altera Quartus
Preferred Skills and Education
- 10+ years of relevant experience with Master's degree in EE/CS
- A working understanding of FPGA architecture and design tradeoffs.
- Exposure to Design Verification methodologies such as UVM/OVM.
- Some experience with Matlab, DSP Fundamentals.
- Some software experience using C/C++, Perl, Tcl/Tk, Python, is desirable.
- Experience with Mil-Aerospace and DoD process, Earned Value Management, proposal capture using Basis-of-Estimate (BOE) methodology a plus.
