As the Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will work with a team of engineers to deliver new technologies to customers by developing high-quality features.

 

You will play an important role in:

1. Engineering Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering department supporting test handler platforms.

  • Define and execute the mechanical engineering roadmap aligned with business, technology, and

  • product strategies.

  • Establish best practices in design standards, documentation, and engineering governance.

  • Mentor, develop, and performance-manage mechanical engineering teams (design, analysis, validation).

2. Product Development & Design Excellence

  • Oversee mechanical design of semiconductor test handlers, including:

  • Precision motion systems (linear, rotary, indexing)

  • Thermal control systems (heating, cooling, contactor alignment)

  • Structural frames, tooling, and fixturing

  • High-speed and high-accuracy mechanisms

  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

  • (PFMEA), tolerance analysis, and risk assessments.

  • Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, and BOMs.

3. Manufacturing, Quality & Reliability

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure Design for Manufacturability

  • (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Cost (DFC).

  • Lead root cause analysis for field failures and manufacturing issues 8D.

  • Drive improvements in MTBF, uptime, yield, and serviceability.

  • Support NPI, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Electrical, Software, Test Engineering, Process, and Applications teams to deliver

  • fully integrated test handler systems.

  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and partners on technical requirements, specifications, and

  • issue resolution.

  • Support customer technical reviews, audits, and escalations when required.

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Champion continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).

  • Drive cost reduction, cycle time reduction, and performance enhancement initiatives.

  • Evaluate and introduce new materials, mechanisms, and technologies relevant to semiconductor

  • test equipment.

6. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with SEMI standards, CE, ISO, and internal safety requirements.

  • Enforce engineering change management and configuration control.

 

To be successful in this role, you need to have:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (master’s degree preferred).

  • 10–15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in semiconductor equipment, preferably test handlers or related automation equipment.

  • 5+ years in a people management or engineering leadership role.

  • Strong background in precision mechanisms, automation, and high-volume manufacturing.

  • Deep expertise in mechanical design for semiconductor equipment or industries using complex automation machines.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools.

  • Strong knowledge of: Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Thermal and vibration considerations, Pneumatics, motors, actuators, bearings

  • Reliability engineering and FMEA

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), lifecycle management, and change control.

  • Strong technical leadership and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to build, motivate, and retain high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
