Are you a passionate veterinary technician who wants to be part of something new and exciting? We are a brand-new, cat-only veterinary hospital opening this fall and are looking for skilled and dedicated veterinary technicians and assistants to join our founding team. This is a unique opportunity to help build a hospital from the ground up and shape a clinic culture centered on FelineVMA Cat Friendly care.
Job Summary
You'll be a key player in our small, collaborative team, helping to establish our brand as the go-to place for cat owners in the community. You'll be responsible for a full range of technical duties, including patient care, surgical assisting, and client education. Because we're a startup, your role will also include contributing to protocols and helping to build efficient workflows. A true love for cats and a commitment to creating a calm, positive environment are a must.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Handle and restrain cats with a gentle, low-stress approach. Administer medications, vaccinations, and perform treatments. Monitor patients in recovery and provide pre- and post-operative care.
- Surgical & Anesthesia: Prepare the surgical suite and patients, assist with surgical procedures, and monitor anesthesia.
- Diagnostic Procedures: Perform in-house lab work, prepare samples for reference labs, and take radiographs.
- Client Education: Educate clients on proper cat care, medication instructions, and preventive health measures.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
- Hospital Maintenance: Help maintain a clean and inviting hospital environment.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a veterinary technician/assistant is required. Experience with FelineVMA Cat Friendly care and handling guidelines is preferred.
- Skills: Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Attributes: A proactive, positive, and adaptable team player with a strong work ethic. Someone who is excited to help build a new veterinary hospital and elevate how veterinary care is provided to cats.
