    JOB SUMMARY
    Assist the school bus or other school vehicle drivers to safely transport children to include students who are physically and/or
     
    mentally challenged and require adult assistance.
     
     
     
    Essential Functions 
    Rides in assigned school transport to monitor the conduct of all students and to maintain safety and discipline.
     
    Directs loading and unloading of students on school transportation to prevent congestion and unsafe conditions. 
    Adheres to safety rules when loading and unloading children. Ensures that students are seated appropriately and
    use seat belts. Properly assists students with disabilities or other students in need of assistance to ensure that
    they are safely helped on and off the vehicle. Ensures students' medical equipment and wheelchairs are properly
    handled and secured. Assists students in and out of car seats, when necessary. Ensures seat belts are properly
    fastened in vehicles equipped with seat belts.
    Maintains a good relationship with students, their parents/guardians, drivers, aides and other district
    transportation personnel. Exercise responsible leadership when working with students. 
    Maintains discipline using appropriate techniques. Reports student misconduct to the proper authority. 
    Maintains confidentiality with all District information, including District and school population information. 
    Maintains familiarity with and complies with students' positive behavior support plans and other accommodations
    or related services which must be provided during the period they are being transported. Communicates with
    proper school personnel. Seeks guidance for issues relating to students who have positive behavior support plans
    or require other accommodations or related services.
    Complies with district policies and guidelines regarding student transportation and discipline. Complies with all
    state, federal, and local laws and regulations applicable to this position.
    Works a split work day as required by the school arrival and dismissal times for the routes assigned.
    Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly vehicle.
    Assists in checking the entire inside of the vehicle at the completion of every student run.
    Attends any in-service programs relating to transportation and other training as directed. Assists in the training
    and in-servicing of other school bus monitors as requested.
    Provides first aid, CPR, or other emergency procedures, if necessary.
