Job Description

The Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering complex industrial engineering solutions from concept through completion. This position provides technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects, ensuring designs are practical, code-compliant, and aligned with client objectives. The Project Engineer collaborates closely with internal teams, clients, and external partners to manage scope, schedules, and technical execution. This role requires strong engineering judgment, project coordination skills, and the ability to balance technical excellence with business and client needs in fast-paced industrial environments.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and Chief Engineering’s policies.
  • Effectively monitors and controls project progress, resource utilization, project financials, and provides updates on project statuses to the team.
  • Applies project management skills on moderately complex projects or tasks, including understanding and communicating milestones, timelines, and project decisions to external stakeholders, internal stakeholders, and direct supervisor.
  • Provides the timely documentation of clear project scope (i.e. detailed assumptions; internal, external, and regulatory requirements; objectives/targets; validation needs; resource estimates; costs; and timing).
  • Performs construction quantity estimates and/or obtains bids, proposals, and quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors as needed for respective projects.
  • Maintains relationships with customers, external subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors, and communicate changes to respective engineering designs to meet customer expectations and requirements including but not limited to: scope of work development for contractor bid, construction timelines, customer downtime windows, installation requirements, and equipment approval drawing red lines and mark-ups.
  • Develop preliminary engineering designs and concepts for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Coordinate plans, calculations, and specifications amongst multi-discipline engineering team and subconsultants. For 3D modeling projects, responsible for regularly reviewing the model with a focus on gauging the level of inter-discipline coordination.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, structural, civil, chemical, or process engineering
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Willingness to travel and work in varying outdoor environments and weather conditions
  • Ability to estimate, budget and analyze project costs and schedules.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to apply local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to engineering design, safety, and construction administration
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of multi-discipline and/or discipline-specific engineering related to the design, construction, implementation, or deliverable submission of projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial environments
  • Experience with LiDAR technology
  • Experience in AutoDesk Design products
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software such as ArcGIS or QGIS is a plus
  • PE license
