POSITION PURPOSE: The primary role of the Lead Controls Technician is to provide leadership within the Maintenance department in the areas of electrical, mechanical, and control systems design and documentation. The Lead Controls Technician provide guidance to other Controls Technicians, recommend and implement process improvements, assist maintenance management in project development, planning, and installation, and be a resource to all floor technicians and operations personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicate with maintenance management on a daily basis.
- Ensure Controls technicians recommendations and work meets Lopez Foods standards.
- Design and install PLC control systems and operator interfaces on major projects as well as smaller scale projects
- Design, install, and maintain industrial network backbone and data collection systems
- Troubleshoot and program industrial robots as well as train others at the appropriate level on operation and troubleshooting procedures
- Assist maintenance department in maintaining standards on: PLC programming, HMI layouts, electrical drawings, communications, data collection and equipment standardization
- Maintain backups of all system software
- Assist other control technicians on designing and installing projects
- Complete all trouble response calls through documentation of work orders and downtime log
- Coordinate trouble response efforts and PM tasks in a timely manner with fellow technicians to maximize uptime
- Communicate with the Maintenance Parts Coordinator to insure adequate parts inventories
- Promote a safe and clean working environment by following clean as you go procedures
- Attend and participate in all safety, staff, etc. meetings and activities
- Promote and utilize the Enterprise Asset Management System by following all Infor EAM procedures and expanding individual use of the system
- Ensure that all safety procedures and guidelines are properly adhered to
- Inform appropriate management and floor technicians of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
