Job Description

About the Department

Performs intermediate support work involving a variety of activities, rentals, marketing, and events related to the recreation department and its facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Childcare Coordinator.

Position Duties

  • Responsible for the after school and summer camp program for youth from K-5 grade. Works afternoons during school year and full day during camp days.  
  • Responsible for assisting in developing, creating, staffing, scheduling and planning of special events, rentals. 
  • Assists in recruiting community partners that support programs and events through sponsorship, volunteering and/or promotion. 
  • Assist in program and facility marketing that may include social media, press releases, print material, advertising, and website content. 
  • Responsible for assisting in various recreation programs and activities.   
  • Coordinate scheduling and work for part-time employees and volunteers at special events 
  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of facility rentals, and or facility oversite 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 



    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED
    • AA and/or bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Two (2) years of experience in organized recreation work, childcare, summer camp, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
    Special Requirements
    • Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of Florida.
    • Possession of first aid and CPR certifications.
    • Emergency Response Status: As a condition of employment, City of St. Pete Beach employees maybe requiredto work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description. This is a condition of employment.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
    • This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
    • Vocal communication isrequiredfor expressing or exchanging ideasby means ofthe spoken word.
    • Hearing isrequiredto perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
    • Visual acuity isrequiredfor depth perception, color perception, use of measuring devices,assemblyor fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment,determiningthe accuracy and thoroughness of work, andobservinggeneral surroundings and activities.
    • The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
