Job Description

The Front Desk Medical Receptionist provides outstanding customer service to our patients in the front desk check-in/check-out area. We are a small, friendly team and pride ourselves on providing personal attention to our patients.

Description

Our ideal candidate is a warm, caring person who has amazing customer service skills, both in person and on the phone. Front desk medical office experience is required. Bilingual Spanish/English skills a plus! If you enjoy helping people, providing organized administrative support, and are a great multi-tasker, then we look forward to hearing from you!

The position starts at $13.00/hour base pay, with the opportunity for growth up to $15.00/hour in a 12-18 month timeframe. The increases in the position will be based on work performance, reliability, and effective communication.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Answer all calls in a prompt and friendly manner, providing excellent customer service for patient needs. Manage multiple phone line system.
  • Schedule appointments, triage patient concerns, evaluate patient need based on medical severity, take messages, make reminder phone calls, and route calls to other members of the team.
  • Verify patient benefits. Be proficient at managing the details of the various insurance plans.
  • Coordinate scheduling of elective surgeries and communicate with the hospital/surgery center/patient regarding these cases.
  • Collect co-pays, co-insurances, ancillary product payments, and deductibles from patients in accordance with their insurance policy. Manage cash/credit card payment logs.
  • Prepare the daily charts for the office and anticipate potential problems with the appointment schedule.

Special notes about this position:

  • Primary employment will be in Austin, but employee must have transportation and be able to report to work at either the Austin or Dripping Springs location, as determined by business needs (travel expected to be no more than 25-50% of the time).
  • Ideal candidate will be a self-starter and able to solve problems independently.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are required. It is critical to our office culture that patients are treated with compassion and care.
  • Opportunity to be cross-trained with the back-office Medical Assistant position.


Requirements

Required Qualifications:

- Completed Medical Assistant training and externship, or equivalent work experience in a customer service role

- Ability to work well on a small team

- Great customer service skills and willingness to help

Preferred Qualifications Include:

- Certified Medical Assistant

- Bilingual English/Spanish

- Experience as a medical front desk receptionist

- Extensive customer service experience on the phone and in person
